What In The World Is E-Learning?

E-learning is one of those words they have associated with distance education. I think e-learning is used even more for adults who are taking some kind of online courses or training at work. As least when I see e-learning, I automatically think about working people and online learning. Many organizations now offer e-learning for their employees, they pay them or offer the courses themselves.

  1. I think e-learning is the same as online learning but not necessarily online education. As Moore & Kearsley (p2) point out education is the "two-sided relationship" of teaching and learning. The e just designate where there learning is taking place - or is it where the teaching is taking place and then we learn elsewhere? I guess the important part is that we are learning :-)

  2. I usually associate e-learning with work. You hear a lot of companies offering e-learning to their employees as part of their learning, or knowledge management. Online learning is for us, students. That's why how I usually differentiate between the two terms.
